Got my CA ballot and filled it out Sunday. Dropped it in a local drop box and done. No worries about the .

The ten propositions took more time to figure out and decide how to vote. I tend to vote against business special laws to help the business escape costs from benefits to their workers. So no on Prop 22. Revising privacy rules to help facebook and othres invade our privacy is also not high on my list of things to do.

I voted for Biden, but that does not matter in CA as he is a shoe in here. Still Biden did well at the Debate which may be the last one for him as Trump may be in quarantine until November...

Biden is leading Trump by ten percent in the polls for those who thought Trump would win. Decency seems popular, if not something wildly exciting. Just normal looks pretty good after what we have suffered.

Probably another 30,000 dead in the U.S. from Covid 19 by November 3, 2020.

Vote early but not more than once.

The stunt of a drive by trump while he was under doctor care was a dumb stunt.

Those in the SUV were at risk of day quarantine at least. If Trump had a relapse he was not near any medical care and was not being monitored like he was n the hospital.

What was the point, except for more attention and honking horns?

Trump is seriously ill and his doctors lied about the level of danger and his condition. Trump had trouble breathing and needed Oxygen on Friday.

The monoclonal antibody experimental treatment was a sign Trump needed help to his immune system. The remdesever is also a sign Trump was seriously ill.

As usual we are lied to about the true facts of Trump's health condition.

The next few days are critical. Sadly the lack of wearing a mask means Trump probably got a bigger dose of virus, meaning more serious illness.

The usual risk for 74 year old males who are obese with some heart issues are not good; 31% die according to one source I read. Trump should get the best medical care but the result depends on his body's reaction. We shall soon see.

I was a tourist in Thailand about a decade ago. I visited a temple with a woman guide who told us her sad story. She had been toyed with by a player for about eight years with no marriage. Now at 35 she was too old to find a husband in Thailand.

I told her to come to America where 35 years old was prime time to marry! Asia has too many young people to appreciate the relative youth of 35 year olds. Still true I think.

I see some sixty and seventy year olds still seeking love or a reasonable facsimile here.

You are not too old if you are healthy and still have the desire.

Giving up on the U.S.?

Some people are fed with the idiocy that is washing over the U.S.

The NYT details some who are leaving or planning leave if Trump is re-elected.

Of course it is hard get legal status in many places unless you marry a citizen of that country. Frankly the South of France, Italy and New Zealand have a better climate and better government than the U.S.

It is hard let go of the dream and idea of America. The reality is becoming too unreal.

Would you go, if you could? Where and when?

The trauma is fading. But Trump showed the bully and fool that he is. Biden managed fairly well be somewhat dignified and serious.

The WWE wrestling match gave few new facts and changed about zero minds.

Trump did show he would not deplore the Neo Nazi group "Proud Boys". There are only about 3,000 of them, but they are still white supremacy style armed militia. Trump told them to standby which they are happy to do in his cause.

Should Biden attend another "debate". He seems to be willing, but what is to be gained?

The old joke is do not wrestle with a pig in the mud. The pig enjoys it and you get covered in mud....

Excess deaths from Covid 19

The official coronavirus death toll has passed 200,000, but an accounting of lives that were lost in the United States since mid-March shows that the pandemic and its resulting disruption have caused substantially more deaths: at least 266,000 more people have died than would in a normal year, according a New York Times analysis of estimates from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Our analysis examines deaths from causes — not just confirmed cases of coronavirus — beginning when the virus took hold. That allows comparisons that don’t depend on the availability of coronavirus tests in a given place or on the accuracy of cause-of-death reporting. What it shows is that some places have seen staggering death tolls, while nearly every state has seen death counts that are substantially higher than usual. The only states where death patterns look normal are Alaska and Hawaii.

New York City 27,0 excess deaths March – Sept. 5
California 22,800 excess deaths March – Sept. 5
Texas 23,900 excess deaths March – Sept. 5
Florida 20,0 excess deaths March – Sept. 5
New Jersey 18,200 excess deaths March – Sept. 5

But comparing recent totals of deaths from causes can provide a more complete picture of the pandemic’s impact than tracking only deaths of people with confirmed diagnoses. Epidemiologists refer fatalities in the gap between the observed and normal numbers of deaths as “excess deaths.”

From March through Sept. 5, the most recent date with reliable death statistics, estimated excess deaths were about 42 percent higher than the official coronavirus fatality count. If this pattern holds, it would put the current death toll at about 285,000 people. Many epidemiologists believe measuring excess deaths is the best way to assess the impact of the virus in real time. It shows how the virus is altering normal patterns of mortality.

NYT reports on Trump's federal taxes

Among the key findings of The Times’s investigation:

Mr. Trump paid no federal income taxes in 11 of 18 years that The Times examined. In 2017, after he became president, his tax bill was only $750.

He has reduced his tax bill with questionable measures, including a $72.9 million tax refund that is the subject of an audit by the Internal Revenue Service.

Many of his signature businesses, including his golf courses, report losing large amounts of money — losses that have helped him lower his taxes.

The financial pressure on him is increasing as 300 hundred millions of dollars in loans he personally guaranteed are soon coming due.

Even while declaring losses, he has managed to enjoy a lavish lifestyle by taking tax deductions on what most people would consider personal expenses, including residences, aircraft and $70,000 in hair styling for television.

So other people are paying Trumps share of his tax liabilities. He has big bills coming due soon and may do illegal things to cover these costs. Too risky to have him as prez....

Federal Election Commission Commissioner Ellen Weintraub on Wednesday said the U.S. does not “get rid of” ballots in response comments made by President Trump as he refused commit a peaceful transition of power if he loses in November.

“In case anyone is unclear on the concept, in the United States of America, we do not ‘get rid of’ ballots. We count them,” Weintraub, a Democrat, tweeted, in response Trump’s comments.

“Counting the ballots – *all* the ballots – is the way we determine who leads our country after our elections. The only way,” Weintraub added.

During a White House briefing on Wednesday, Trump was asked if he would commit a peaceful transfer of power after the election, win or lose.
“We’re going have see what happens, you know, but I’ve been complaining very strongly about the ballots. The ballots are a disaster,” Trump responded.
Pressed further, Trump said there would be no need for a transition of power without -in ballots, suggesting he believes he would win the election without an expansion of -in voting during the pandemic.  “Get rid of the ballots and you’ll have a very peaceful — there won't be a transfer, frankly. There will be a continuation,” Trump said. “The ballots are out of control. You know it, and you know who knows it better than anyone else? The Democrats know it better than anyone else.”

Trump has repeatedly made unsubstantiated claims that -in voting leads voter fraud as Democrats seek amp up voting by amid the coronavirus pandemic limit crowds at in-person polling places.

Obamacare and the ban insurance companies overcharging those with pre-existing conditions is going be key in the 2020 elections, as it was in 2018.

The 200,000 dead from covid19 and its complications is horrible. The Trump has failed protect us from crackpot ideas and foolish games.

The horror is the predictions are for another 200,000 dead by year end!.

The over 60 year old group has suffered the worst, along with frontline workers who are often minorities.

Now many in the rural and red states are dying. but Trump has no help for them. Even if a vaccine is approved it will take time distribute and many fear have the shot or shots. This pandemic is a long term problem. Get used bad news.

Some liberal ideas are very popular. Like a $15 per hour minimum wage. Ending the death penalty. Same gender marriage. Lower taxes for the poor, higher taxes on the rich. More money for schools and health care.

U.S. Supreme court

In the U.S.A. most cultural and political disputes end in a lawsuit and decided by the U.S. Supreme Court, unless it is strictly a state law issue. Even those can get dragged into Federal Court. Marriage is an example. Usually a state law matter, the prohibition of same sex or same gender couples to wed was ruled a denial of U.S. rights to equal protection of the law.

So now with Ruth Ginsburg passin away at 87, the GOP has a shot at a right wing majority of 6 to 3 liberals. If the Dems win in November this will not stand.

What can Dems do? They can shut down the government, impeach the President or Bill Barr, or pack the court.

If the Dems control the Presidency, the Senate and the House they can change the laws and do away with the 60 vote rule to pass laws. Then majorities in Congress will allow Dems to name and confirm four new liberal justices; there will be a 7 to 6 majority for Dems favorite ideas. The GOP can change the rules to favor them later if they control all.

If the GOP is willing to use their power, the Dems should fight back with their weapons.

So get ready for a bumpy ride. Fasten your seat belts.
