Why?

why do people on here send friend requests? Why do they send friend requests" without ever chatting/speaking with the person" before they send the friend request? why do people do that?
a friend is someone you hangout with and do things with. Someone that you share and have the same things in common. A friend is NOT someone you never ever see or don't take the time to see.
i hope to hear your take or feedback on this post because i am a tad bit confused at this point.

...and it's mostly all for show.... to make people think he or she is popular with lots of people, when really he or she probably couldn't tell you two names in his or her list.

 I think you get points the more "friends" you have, I get friend requests a lot, I just ignore them, I only "friend" people I chat too, because I'm old and I forget!
and people I've met, or will possibly meet,
